Position Overview

Are you ready to lead a transformative data initiative within a Top-Secret environment? We are seeking a highly skilled Data Lead to manage the end-to-end data processes for a Department of Defense (DoD) data platform implementation. In this role, you will develop and implement comprehensive data management strategies, ensure data integrity and security, and oversee data ingestion and integration efforts. Your expertise in data architecture and engineering will be crucial in maintaining compliance with DoD standards and enhancing the platform's performance and scalability. Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Lead to oversee the data management, ingestion, and integration aspects of a Department of Defense (DoD) data platform implementation within a Top-Secret environment. The Data Lead will be responsible for managing the end-to-end data processes, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with DoD standards. This role requires an individual with extensive experience in data architecture, data engineering, and managing data operations in secure environments.

Key Responsibilities:

    Develop and implement a comprehensive data management strategy that aligns with the objectives of the DoD data platform.
  • Ensure the data architecture supports scalability, high availability, and performance within a Top-Secret environment.
  • Lead the design and implementation of data ingestion pipelines, ensuring efficient and secure data flow from various sources into the platform.
  • Oversee data integration efforts, ensuring seamless interoperability between the data platform and existing DoD systems.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with DoD regulations.
  • Work closely with the accreditation support team to ensure data processes meet all necessary requirements for obtaining an Authority to Operate (ATO) on SIPR and JWICS networks.
  • Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, data architects, and analysts, providing technical guidance and ensuring best practices in data management.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including cloud architects, integration teams, and security teams, to ensure cohesive and secure data operations.
  • Implement robust data security measures to protect classified data, in alignment with DoD security protocols and best practices.
  • Continuously monitor and enhance data security practices to address emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Optimize data processes for performance, ensuring the platform can handle large-scale data ingestion, processing, and analytics.
  • Implement monitoring and optimization tools to ensure ongoing data performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with DoD stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure the data platform meets operational needs.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on data management activities, challenges, and successes to project leadership and DoD stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in data management, with a focus on large-scale data projects in secure, classified environments.
  • Active Top-Secret clearance is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in data architecture, data engineering, and managing data operations in a DoD or federal context.
  • Strong understanding of data security protocols, compliance requirements, and governance in Top Secret environments.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing data ingestion pipelines and integration strategies.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data management in a DoD environment, including familiarity with SIPRNet and JWICS networks.
  • Certifications in data management or data engineering (e.g., CDMP, AWS Certified Big Data, Google Cloud Certified - Professional Data Engineer).
  • Experience with data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, SQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data services and architectures, particularly within secure environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and efficiency in data processes.
