Overview
Mount Marty is pleased to accept applications for the Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources role involves fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment while aligning HR practices with the university’s mission and vision as a Catholic Benedictine University.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Human Resource Operations:
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent.
- Champion initiatives that promote a healthy and positive workplace culture, focusing on employee well-being, engagement, and work-life balance.
- Provide leadership and guidance in conflict resolution, employee relations, and workplace investigations.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Collaborate with department leads to ensure job descriptions reflect the organization’s goals, values, and evolving needs.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, institutional policies, and accreditation requirements.
- Leadership and Collaboration:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on HR and organizational strategies.
- Cultivate strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to support the university’s mission.
- Represent the university at professional associations and networking events to stay informed of best practices.
- Standing member of the Employee Engagement & Fulfillment Committee, Policy Committee, and Hospitality Committee.
- Other Duties:
- Provide additional support as directed by the President or VP for Finance and Administration.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in human resources and organizational strategy, preferably in higher education.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Proven experience leading strategic projects and cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
