To this end, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) is hiring a Program Director, Data Governance and Policy to lead and advance the University’s Information Governance program.
This position has three primary pillars of responsibility and leadership:
- Information Governance Committee and related working groups
- Policy and Standards Management
- Data Governance across ND
Our future Program Director will consult executive leadership and senior administrators on policies, standards, and strategies that align with the University’s strategic objectives and facilitate data access, sharing and collaboration. As a member of the OIT extended leadership team, they will serve as the institutional authority on the management and use of institutional data to help guide and advise our leaders in their strategic direction.
Among others, the Program Director will:
- Lead the collaborative development of data definitions for key University terms
- Lead the integration of the University Data Dictionary into reporting and analysis environments
- Develop policies and standards for information governance and coordinate the editing and updating of all IT policies at Notre Dame
- Serve as the IT Lead for the University’s Information Governance Committee and the chair of the Data Managers Working Group
- Structure data to be easily accessible, supporting the efficient rollout of new programs and applications

Strategic Vision – A deep understanding of the University’s values, community, and strategic objectives to advance data governance and stewardship, not just maintain current practices.
Integration and Translation – The ability to translate technical needs into terms and use cases that senior leaders can understand, creating comfort around data use and streamlining the approval process.
Leadership Presence – This role should be positioned within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), to effectively manage relationships with VPs, AVPs, and other senior leaders across the University.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or 4+ years of experience
- Proven ability to cultivate relationships across a wide variety of disciplines
- Analytical orientation and strong problem-solving skills
- Strong strategic planning and stakeholder management skills
