Under general supervision of a manager, and in conjunction with information services, the Cardiology Informatics Analyst is responsible for the design, building, implementation, testing and support of clinical and information application systems for the Cardiovascular Institute. This role provides critical applications support to users by leveraging extensive knowledge of clinical and business processes, documentation needs, workflows, and practice standards, ensuring software, hardware and reporting platforms are precisely adapted to meet evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clinicians and administrators to develop or adapt written protocols, reports, and database systems, ensuring alignment with clinical and business standards.
- Prepare detailed specifications that encompass clinical and business processes, information flow, reporting requirements, risk assessments, and impact analyses.
- Provide customer service, including troubleshooting and system maintenance, to ensure optimal performance of clinical information systems.
- Manage daily system monitoring, including storage media, user management, and network performance, ensuring consistent and reliable operations across both onsite and remote locations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to connectivity, equipment, and network infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation and minimizing downtime.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to ensure system resilience, particularly for remote sites, maintaining continuity of operations in diverse settings.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and cost savings, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's technological infrastructure.
- Provide training, direction, and mentoring to new and ongoing users, including remote staff, fostering a collaborative and quality-conscious work environment.
- Manage security protocols and monitors compliance with established policies and procedures to protect patient information and ensure system integrity.
- Act as the primary liaison between cardiology information systems and other departments within the Medical Center, facilitating cross-functional communication and collaboration.
- Participate in problem management support and resolution for clinical systems, addressing challenges proactively and adapting to the evolving needs of multiple remote and onsite locations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to the dynamic demands of the healthcare environment.
Seven (7) years of related clinical information systems experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in healthcare information, computer science, or related area PLUS three (3) years of related experience/training.
Must obtain certification in primary EMR module(s) within 4-8 months of initial hire.
Must maintain current certification for primary EMR module(s) as a condition of employment.
Experience and proven success in information systems implementation, development and support within a large-scale healthcare organization.
In-depth knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
Detail-oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline.
Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance.
Demonstrated ability to provide expert consultative guidance and direction on change initiatives affecting clinical care processes.
Demonstrated ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis.
Ability to effectively utilize system tools to meet functionality needs of users.
Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects; in-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high-quality planning documents.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Epic Certification preferred.
Demonstrated experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation.
Project management and vendor management experience.
Working knowledge of Cardiology PACS and Healthcare Image Share systems, specifically Syngo Dynamics CVIS and Stratus Image Share.
Sensis Hemodynamics System management experience.
Working experience with EPIC EMR interfaces, HL7 protocol and DICOM communication protocol.
Hemodynamics to EMR interface workflow familiarity.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $94,400 - $176,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $45.21 - $84.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
