Job Description
Position Summary
The Instructor is responsible for the planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom or online instruction and related activities. The Instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any College campus as assigned. As a minimum, the related activities include instruction, academic advising, serving on various committees, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assume personal responsibility for instruction in all classes assigned.
- Assist in departmental projects, such as the preparation/selection of departmental course syllabi, collection and analysis of learning outcomes data, selection of textbooks/materials, etc.
- Master software and technology as needed in order to enhance instruction; develop, and deliver web-based instruction in accordance with standards set by the College.
- Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education.
- Foster a customer service environment for fellow employees, students, and visitors. Be an Ambassador for the College. Support the college’s initiative to maximize retention of current students and enable students to finish their collegiate goals.
- Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the ACCS Chancellor’s Office, and the College.
- Participate in College functions (Award and Honor events, Alumni Homecoming, Commencement, Parson Days, etc.)
- Assume other work related responsibilities as assigned by the appropriately assigned College administrator.

Qualifications
The qualifications for the Aviation Instructor shall be in accordance with the applicable certification and credential requirements specified by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the appropriate accrediting agency.
Required- The Aviation Instructor must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of six years of verifiable aircraft maintenance experience.
Preferred- Prior instructor experience is preferred.
Required- Must hold Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and/or Powerplant Certification.
