The Career Services Coordinator will focus on fostering connections between HutchCC technical program students/graduates and meeting the needs of employers.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 


Essential –


 

  • Provide comprehensive career planning services using effective communication and technology to enhance student and alumni job and career placement.
  • Coordinate operations and activities of the career services office, to include ensuring adequate staffing, managing budgets, developing promotional materials, and updating procedure documentation.
  • Market and manage the CareerZone job posting system and events to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and supervises activities of the Career Services office. Create and manage a yearly schedule of activities, training, and events for the campus community, virtual students, and employers. Planning and preparing content for workshops and classroom presentations; and planning and providing one-on-one training and coaching sessions.
  • Develop programming and processes to coordinate events including job fairs, on campus and virtual recruitment, employer panels, and interview sessions. Present career services workshops on topics such as resume writing, mock interviewing, completion of applications for employment, and job search techniques. Fostering and coordinating connections for students, employees, and employers.
  • Provide student career planning including focusing on career drivers (interests, skills, experience, and values), continuing education, certification, internships, apprenticeships, job shadowing opportunities, providing campus with job leads and career opportunities, and ensuring career services participants have a documented plan prior to program completion.
  • Coordinate with faculty, staff, administrators, employers, community members, and other internal/external personnel, departments, and/or agencies to establish partnerships, and communicate information. Collaborate with academic department chairs and technical program coordinators to understand career service needs and assist with program activities, planning, and development as needed.
  • Develop and maintain reports, records, feedback satisfaction surveys, and other documentation to ensure timely and accurate data, and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster positive relationships and processes with internal and external stakeholders to support growth and assistance for student career employment.
  • Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, practices, and procedures.

 

Secondary –


 

  • Participate in community business/education partnership activities.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities, as appropriate for the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Business and Industry.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


 

Essential –


 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Relations, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of the field of career and technical education and post-secondary educational organizations.
  • Knowledge of current labor market trends and effective marketing techniques.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators and faculty.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment.
  • Ability to be attentive to detail, to accurately follow written and oral instructions, and to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and manage multiple work projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations;
  • Valid Kansas driver’s license.
  • Physical requirements include lifting books and equipment-lifting requirements shall vary; excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently. Light to moderate, indoor work environment.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without a reasonable accommodation.
