Job Description

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision, direction, and guidance of the RN, the Emergency Department Inpatient Clinical Care Partner (CCP) provides patient-specific observation, care, and intervention as directed by unit protocol to at-risk patients of the Emergency Departments and Inpatient Psychiatric Departments. The CCP collaborates with the patient care team in the formulation and application of the patient plan of care. Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic interventions and crisis interventions applied to patients that are cognitively and/or psychiatrically impaired. Intervenes as necessary to reduce and prevent self-harm. Assists with other related clinical environments and clinical support functions as required. Demonstrates ability to work with a diverse and vulnerable population.

Duties include assisting with activities of daily living: feeding, bathing, ambulating, and taking vital signs. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff, and other disciplines in a constructive, professional, and therapeutic manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of related experience providing patient care and observation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • One (1) year or greater experience working with vulnerable and behavioral high-risk populations, specifically the cognitively impaired or those suffering from psychiatric disorders.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Commitment to complete UCSD CPI/behavioral management/de-escalation training within 6 months of hire date.

  • Demonstrated ability to empathize with and understand the perspectives of others, even in difficult or challenging situations.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen actively and express oneself clearly and effectively in verbal and written communication.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • Experience in caring for cognitively impaired, acute and chronic psychiatric illness and/ or substance abuse co-morbidities.
  • CPI training and/or de-escalation experience.
  • Bilingual: Spanish/English.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Flexible to work variable hours and locations including overtime, nights, weekends and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Initial and annual training requirements for the ED Clinical Care Partner are subject to modification by the Emergency Department.
  • New hires who fail to complete initial training requirements will be released from employment within the probationary period.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $54,664 - $67,944 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $26.18 - $32.54

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
