Job Description

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE IN SPINAL CORD STIMULATION AND ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY FOR CHRONIC PAIN, Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek, Program in Media Arts and Sciences, to join Professor Sarkar’s research group that develops wireless nanoelectronic devices which can be used for spatio-temporally precise electrical stimulation of the spinal cord. Will perform research on electrical spinal cord stimulation to treat chronic/neuropathic pain in mice; characterize the effect of stimulation through electrophysiology and behavioral tests; and publish scholarly reports.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: PhD in neuroscience, biology, bioengineering or relevant field; extensive understanding of neural circuitry and mechanism related to chronic pain and effect of spinal cord stimulation on it; expertise in electrophysiology techniques; experience in developing neuropathic/chronic pain models in rodents; experience with mouse/rats spinal cord surgery, stereotactic injections and implanting epidural electrodes; experience in electrical stimulation and recording from mice/rats’ spinal cord with electrodes; experience with testing animal behavior related to neuropathic/chronic pain. PREFERRED: Experience in Patch clamping in cultured cells or live spinal cord slices; experience in studying neural plasticity with electrical stimulation; experience with spinal Cord Injury Fiber photometry or 2-photoncalcium imaging or optogenetics skills; and data analysis and statistical skills.
