*Job Description:*
TEKsystems is seeking a Senior Linux
Administrator to join our team in San Diego, CA. The successful candidate will
administer and manage servers and end-user workstations in both unclassified
and classified network environments as part of a Research, Development, Test,
and Evaluation (RDT&E) Program.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Utilize Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration experience for technical problem-solving and consulting.
* Automate installation methods and system imaging using tools like Kickstart and Ansible.
* Set up and manage public key infrastructure (PKI) for digital certificates and encryption.
* Implement DISA STIGs and work within Configuration-Managed Environments.
* Analyze, design, and implement system software modifications to enhance performance.
* Plan hardware acquisitions, interact with vendors, and collaborate on projects.
* Support engineers in using workstations and servers for computational tasks.
* Manage application installation, license management, software tracking, and backup/recovery.
* Use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation.
* Operate running systems, manage virtual machines, and control services.
* Configure local storage, file systems, and network file systems.
* Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation and updates.
* Manage users and groups with centralized directory authentication.
* Configure basic firewall and SELinux for security.
* Set kernel runtime parameters and produce system utilization reports.
* Use shell scripting to automate system maintenance tasks.
* Configure system logging, including remote logging.
* Provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH, and NTP.
*Required Skills:*
* IAT Level II Certification and Interim or Active Secret Clearance.
* Minimum 4 years of experience in system administration of Linux-based and Windows Servers (2016).
* Strong experience working in Linux Command Line.
* Strong experience supporting RHEL (Red Hat Linux) in a DoD environment, especially supporting workstations.
* Experience with Red Hat Linux, scripting (Ansible), and hybrid Windows/Linux server environments.
*Nice to Have:*
* Knowledge of corporate services like DNS, SMTP, RHEV, Splunk, and Apache.
* Experience managing IT infrastructure installation and maintenance.
* Hardware experience with Dell systems.
* Ability to work in environments with rapidly changing job priorities.
* Experience with ServiceNow ITSM Ticket Management.
*Work Environment:*
* Performed across multiple sites in San Diego, CA.
* Business casual dress code.
* Contract includes about 200 people across various teams (Linux, Windows, IT Support, networking, applications, security, etc.).
