Visitor Experience and Events Manager
Job Description
VISITOR EXPERIENCE AND EVENTS MANAGER, MIT Open Space Programming, manages and coordinates MIT Welcome Center’s desk staffing with MIT Admissions; provides back up coverage as needed; supervises the Visitor Experience and Operations Coordinator; ensures a warm and welcoming visitor experience, and that the space are in excellent working order; manages event bookings; coordinates with colleagues and collaborators ensure events go smoothly, safely, and follow MIT guidelines and policies; is onsite, day-of event lead; leads emergency preparedness for the team; ensures the AV is in good working order; convenes meetings with MIT stakeholders; address facility, custodial, or systems issues that arise; and special projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; a minimum of two years of related experience; excellent customer service skills; experience working with the public; excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; experience managing a team; setting work schedules; mentoring staff; committed to inclusive practices and meaningful community engagement; team player; demonstrates flexibility when there is a need to change, reprioritize, or shift focus or goals; organized, resourceful, detail-oriented, reliable, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines; assume responsibility and work with minimal supervision; learn quickly and follow processes effectively; must be willing to work regular nights and weekends as required for job responsibilities; ability to lift weights of up to 25 lbs.; must be willing to learn MIT processes and systems; proactive and holds self accountable for follow-up. Full time (40 hours/week), Tuesday - Saturday schedule; 12-8pm. This role requires a flexible schedule, with later evenings required, especially in the fall and spring. This is an on-site role, with one day of remote work possible, as event schedules allow.
Salary range: $66,000-$90,000
