Job Description

Job Summary: Leadership of LVC Training business unit new product implementation to manufacturing. Reporting to VP Operations LVC Training. Responsible for developing prototype and initial production builds, along with production ramp plans to meet customer needs. Work closely with LVC Training engineering and program management on new product design for manufactire and establish effective sources of material supply by working closely with the Cubic integrated Supply Chain function to ensure to best decisions are made for business growth, performance and profitability to meet the LVC business unit annual operating plan (AOP). This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs long term and strategic planning with LVC Training business development, engineering and program management.
  • Serve as main interface between the business unit and ISC function on specific product groups and categories to optimize sourcing strategies and business needs
  • Help LVC Training business unit to make strategic make-buy decisions. Ensures alignment, anticipates changes, and drives activities based on supply market changes.
  • Work hand in hand with ISC to design advanced sourcing strategies for individual commodities outside of traditional levers
  • Understands supplier market dynamics/intelligence (incl. technology road map from suppliers) and use it as an input into the sourcing strategy
  • Selects key suppliers with input of Program Management, Contract, Sub-contracts, Legal and Quality for development of Master Purchase Agreements for critical systems/subsystem requirements for global application.
  • Oversee and participate in key negotiations and awards. based on manufacturing price to win strategies.
  • Provides critical support on proposal evaluation, negotiation, administration, including politically sensitive subjects.
  • Reviews critical procurement status information with senior management.
  • Develops cost reduction/cost avoidance programs with emphasis on total cost impact (i.e., consolidation of supply orders/contracts).
  • Establishes and performs to budget specifications (both organizational and program-related).
  • Develops strategies and tactics to optimize contract negotiations for maximum return on investment.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree, in materials management, business administration, supply chain, or related field, plus a minimum of ten years of experience in diverse buying activities, including two years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following categories: PCBA and Components; Electro-Mechanical Assemblies; Metals; OEM; and/or Indirect Spaces
  • Materials management certificate desirable.
  • Knowledge of proposal evaluation and proven ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to provide workable solutions to a wide variety of subcontractor/customer challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for interface with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Continuing education in procurement trends, transit requirements, etc is expected.
  • NAPM courses and CPM are desirable.
  • Must be available for travel both domestic and international.
