Research Assistant

Job Description

The Johns Hopkins Center for Adolescent Health is housed within the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Our mission is to promote health equity and wellbeing for youth through connection and collaboration with a diverse network of young people and community and academic partners on public health research, education, policy, and practice.


We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to contribute to domestic adolescent sexual and reproductive health applied research projects. These include but are not limited to Thrivology, a collaborative initiative focused on identifying and translating best practices on trauma-informed sexual and reproductive health programs and care; and community-wide youth sexual health initiatives in Baltimore City and rural counties across Maryland. Candidates should have experience in at least one, and ideally all, of the following: literature reviews, program monitoring, qualitative research, and community outreach.


*The Research Assistant will start in December 2024. Below are detailed lists of the duties and qualifications for this job.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing abstracts, full text articles, and grey literature.
  • Assist with synthesis and analysis of literature reviews.
  • Work closely with the project team to support project advisory groups.
  • Assist with the preparation of bi-annual and annual reports.
  • Act as the primary liaison between our team and local teams who are implementing programs.
  • Schedule observations with teachers and ensure they have completed all evaluation tasks.
  • Track evaluation requirements and prepare data requests.
  • Complete Human Subjects Training through Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
  • Attend weekly research team meetings.
  • Assist with other project tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Two years of research experience in program monitoring and/or public health/social science research.
  • Experience conducting systematic literature reviews.
  • Experience working in sexual and reproductive health programs or research.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and critique public health research articles.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
