We are seeking a talented, design-sensitive, and ambitious Design Coordinator to join our Southern California architecture team! In this role, you will be integral to our project teams in all stages of design, including programming, digital modeling, rendering, physical modeling, design studies, preparation of schematic, design development and construction documents, coordination with multiple design disciplines, consultants, and contractors. Our practice works on a wide variety of project types and scales, so versatility to adapt to a variety of collaborative design team settings is necessary.

In this role you will:
    participate in collaborative design team discussions and accept specific assignments to develop design concepts, working drawings, and renderings for internal discussions and client meetings;
  • work with leading institutions and HGA project leaders that have extensive experience and award-winning design work;
  • accept specific assignments and develop concepts according to parameters defined by the Senior Architect overseeing project assignment;
  • develop technical details for construction documentation, and research materials and building systems to support decision-making for construction detailing;
  • manage related components/tasks of project so that all can be effectively executed, according to schedule and within budget;
  • take point on Construction Administration efforts, working closely with other team members;
  • support code analysis, specifications, coordination of building systems and other technical disciplines;
  • review drawings, documents and submittals for document compliance and documenting code review and compliance;
  • assure execution of/assist with quality control activities for architectural elements on projects;
  • work with colleagues in San Jose as well as other HGA offices;
  • proactively communicate with project team leadership to keep everyone informed of your work progress;
  • identify project challenges, decision points and communicate impact;
  • interact and communicates effectively and professionally with other team members;
  • seek clarity when necessary by asking questions; and
  • maintain, organize and archive all project related documents.
You will need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture; Master's degree preferred
  • 1 to 3 years of experience working in an A&E firm
  • An interest in working in all stages of the design process
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail and motivation to learn
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Initiative and be a selft starter
  • Proficiency in Revit, 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software
    • Modeling and detailing in Revit in a team setting required
    • Comfort with Rhino as design study software of choice strongly preferred, sketchup/others are acceptable
    • Rendering experience desired (Enscape, V-ray, Lumion etc}
    • Strong model making and hand drawing skills highly appreciated
    • Great graphic skills in Indesign/Illustrator/Photoshop
Salary Information:

The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Hourly rate: $30.43 - $34.66.
