Salary Range: $1,114 - $1,203 per FLH
Work Mode: This position requires some regular in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations, depending on business needs of the office.
Work Schedule: M-F 0830 - 1630
Position Type: Exempt
Position Summary
We're looking for instructors that are enthusiastic and engaging with students, and willing to be a team player with other full time and part time faculty and staff members. The Paramedic Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to paramedic students, preparing them for state and national certification exams and field practice. The instructor develops, implements and grades within the paramedic curriculum, conducts classroom lectures, hands-on skills labs, and mentors during clinical rotations. This role requires collaboration with full-time instructors, Director of EMS, medical directors, clinical sites, and EMS agencies to ensure students receive comprehensive and current paramedic education. The instructor is also responsible for maintaining their own certifications and continuing education to stay updated with advancements in emergency medical services.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teach assigned class(es) in accordance with expectations specified by the Director of EMS.
Develop scenarios, lesson plans, and test questions.
Assess student progress in meeting the learning objectives through formal and informal assessment to include assigning grades.
Prepare students for state and national paramedic certification exams.
Provide mentorship and feedback to students on performance, skills, affective behavior and professional development.
Adhere to safety procedures and departmental standards.
Meet required deadlines for submitting grades, attendance, and other information, as requested.
Certifications need to be up to date and submitted within 1 month of recertification.
Physical demands: Lifting medical equipment, manikins, bending and standing for long periods of time and demonstrating physical procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Maryland and NREMT paramedic certification.
Minimum Experience Requirements: 3+ years experience as a paramedic
MFRI Instructor or NAEMSE Instructor
Prior teaching experience with an accredited paramedic program
Letter of recommendation from jurisdictional medical director where certification is held
Preferred Qualifications:
MICRB (Maryland Instructor Certification Review Board) certified instructor
Bachelors degree in EMS or related field
Instructor ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, AMLS
