- Apply Appreciative Advising to KSC career development model to understand how academic and career choices are made; develop students’ academic and career interests; and guide students to academic and career success.
- Provide in-person and virtual career advising through individual appointments, class presentations, drop-in hours, and events for current students and recent alumni.
- Offer career development services including career exploration & self-assessments, connecting academics to careers, assistance with finding and applying for internships, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, career and job market exploration, and search strategies including LinkedIn to students and recent alumni.
- Create and implement action plans with students and alumni. Promote high-impact practices including service, research, internships, and study away.
- Coach students and alumni on identifying their aptitudes, academic and career interests, and guide them in achieving their set goals. Prepare students to successfully obtain post-graduate opportunities such as internships, jobs, residencies, graduate school, working abroad, and educational opportunities
- Prepare students to research and apply to graduate school including preparation of resumes and required application materials
- Promote the value of internships and experiential learning opportunities to students.
Duty/Responsibility
- Assist in organizing Career Services events and programming which supports the goals of the department.
- Collaborate with department staff, faculty, student organizations, and campus partners to identify events and programs in which Career Services can support
- Build and maintain relationships with employers to ensure their continued participation in events, gathering feedback to enhance future events
- Provide day of event support during events, assisting staff, employers, students, and faculty to ensure smooth execution, and troubleshooting any issues
- Create and manage targeted marketing to engage students, including social media promotion, email campaigns, and partnerships with faculty to increase career event awareness and participation
Duty/Responsibility
- Develop reports and analyze data to continuously improve services and targeted outreach.
- Design and implement communication plans outreaching to students, staff, faculty and employers.
- Create targeted reports for academic departments to effectively serve career needs of specific student populations.
- Conduct trainings on use of platforms.
- Approve and manage events.
- Research and employ most current effective practices using the platforms.
- Supervise and manage internship registrations/compliance.
- Send affiliation agreements, NH DOL approvals, onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen). Additional communication as needed to meet requirements.
Duty/Responsibility
- Provide academic advising during course registration and orientation.
- Participate in Advisor on Call rotation during the academic year, providing advising and academic support resources to students.
- Connect interests to possible classes, majors, minors, and discuss co-curricular options for exploring interests.
- Collaborate with Student Academic Support Services departments to ensure informed and effective advising.
- Participate in interdepartmental training to remain current in curriculum, academic policy, and resource
knowledge, increase advisor and faculty collaboration, and provide continued exposure to career-specific requirements and trends. - Follow standard operating procedures for documenting student contacts, outreach, and activities.
