Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Project and Team Management: In coordination with Project Manager or Project Director, delegate project-related assignments to a multi-disciplinary team with day-to-day supervision on project-related tasks, including the technical methods to be utilized, level or effort, and key internal and external milestones, including regular client communication.
  • Technical Responsibilities: In support of multi-benefit stormwater treatment projects driven by the San Diego Region Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) Permit (as well as other CA MS4 Permits) as well as flood control and other environmental regulations, plan and oversee the design of stormwater management and drainage restoration projects from the conceptual to the 100% design level, including drainage improvements and pipelines, best management practices (BMPs), erosion and sediment control, and/or stream rehabilitation/restoration projects. Design work will include hydrologic and hydraulic watershed modeling, engineering computations, engineering drawings, technical documents, and the creation of visual exhibits and maps. Other tasks may include watershed and project-based planning studies including project opportunity identification, prioritization, benefit quantification, and lifecycle cost estimation.
  • Business Development: With assistance from local managers, obtain and/or manage new contracts or follow-on work with existing clients. Support proposal development, including outreach to teaming partners, and development of technical content in response to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs). Participate in professional conferences and networking events.
  • Standard of Care: Apply a standard of care consistent with industry practices in the quality development of every work product.

  • This position is eligible for participation in Geosyntec's hybrid work program which gives employees the flexibility to work remotely for either 2 or 3 days per week. Participation in the hybrid work program is not required.

Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
  • California Professional Engineer license (i.e., P.E.). (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of related progressive experience in civil engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Experience with the local regulatory environment, including experience supporting San Diego County, City of San Diego, or other local municipalities in making progress toward their watershed planning, stormwater BMP and storm drain design, and MS4 Permit compliance goals.
  • Ability to efficiently apply the principles of project management including defining resource requirements, advance delegation to technical staff, cost estimating, and task scheduling.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • A proven track record of obtaining and/or managing new contracts or follow-on work with existing clients.
  • Experience using and overseeing modeling and design software tools such as HydroCAD, EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified California locations below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $108,360/year
  • Maximum Salary: $140,870/year
