These ST position will be 12-hour shifts days.
In combination with a surgical nurse, the Surgical Technician performs a wide range of duties utilizing specialized knowledge acquired through formal training. The Senior Surgical Technician supports surgical areas within UC San Diego Health. Duties also include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and supply needs for complex cases, communicating with related buyers and vendors and other staff concerning their service, contacting surgical supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment, and providing education/training to new staff. Performs other related tasks as required. Surgical Tech will support Same Day Surgery Operating Rooms, Main Operating Room, Night Call, Wknds and Holidays in conjunction will all other surgical techs in unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist institution or specialized program.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
- A minimum of one (1) year of Surgical Technician experience.
- Proven knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience, preferably in an operating room handling a variety of complex surgical cases.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $76,191 - $94,712 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $36.49 - $45.36
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
