Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Network Services, the Server Engineer II will have the following responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring & management of all server and storage soft/hardware components; ensuring all systems are functioning optimally; and notifying management/other members of team if problems are found.
- Deploying, integrating and decommissioning soft/hardware as required.
- Monitoring backups and restoring data/servers as required
- Technical project management & resolution for local/enterprise server complex deployments.
- Acting as the technical point person/contact for issues as required.
- Research/Architect/Design/Redesign of new and existing enterprise infrastructure components and applications.
- Diagnosing, documenting, and resolving local/enterprise infrastructure issues accurately in a timely manner.
- Conducting system update/upgrades/migration as required.
- Work independently or with higher level managers on systems integration issues involving specialized hardware and software.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*
The successful candidate is required to possess a high school or equivalency diploma and either:
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience where a primary function of the position was server administration, including the installation, operation, maintenance and problem-diagnosis of servers and associated equipment; OR
- Eight (8) years of experience as described in (a).
Satisfactory completion of 30 credits may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four years of the required experience. A Master's Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field may also be substituted for one additional year of experience.
Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York at time of appointment and maintain same while in the title is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in some or all of the following is strongly preferred: Dell Servers/PCs, Kemp load Balancers, Dell/EMC/TrueNAS Storage, Xerox Network Scanners/Printers, various testing tools (soft/hardware based). Additional application proficiency is preferred, as follows: Microsoft (Office 365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SQL, ADFS, LDAP, File Server, SharePoint, SCSM, SCCM), Printer Property Pro, VMware, SSL Certificates, Enterprise Vault, Papercut, Provance, Nexpose, Ubuntu, WordPress, Veeam, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is Wednesday, Thursday (8:00AM - 5:30PM), Friday, Saturday (8:00AM-6:00PM).
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $85,505. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $113,487 Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
