Job Description
Responsibilities
The primary professional responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Business Administration faculty position are to provide outstanding teaching and support the professional development of Lewis University students through management of the College of Business internship program. Faculty are expected to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, and respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.
Essential Duties:
1. Teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate Business Administration courses, primarily in a face-to-face format on our Romeoville and/or Oak Brook campus.
2. Twenty-Four (24) credit-hour teaching load per academic year. This position will receive a six (6) credit hour course reduction for the administration of the Experiential Learning programs. Contractual teaching load may decrease in future years based on program enrollment.
3. Twelve-month position with minor summer responsibilities to support summer internships.
4. Manage the College of Business internship program, working directly with students to identify and manage experiential professional working opportunities.
5. Identify, create and promote internship opportunities for students, building a professional network to encourage increased business and student participation.
6. Establish and maintain office hours to assist students and foster positive interaction with colleagues and external parties.
7. Advise undergraduate students on program progression and academic success. Additionally, mentor graduate and undergraduate students on professional development.
8. Actively participate in College/University Committees, scholarly pursuits, student recruitment, recognition events and other various duties as assigned by the Dean and Department Chair.
9. Actively network with current business professionals, incorporating current topics and trends within the classroom.
10. Grow and promote undergraduate and graduate programs within the College, University and broader community.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master of Business Administration or another related business discipline from an AACSB accredited institution.
2. Experience with course development and evidence of successful teaching ability at the university level.
3. Demonstrated ability to establish professional working relationships with external organizations, faculty and students.
4. Experience supporting student development and professional growth beyond the classroom.
5. Active engagement in research and professional development interests.
6. Experience tailoring instruction to support diverse learning needs in an academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Earned doctorate in Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategy, or another related business discipline from an AACSB accredited institution.
2. Experience teaching entrepreneurship or business administration courses at the university level.
3. Experience in a leadership role in a corporate/business environment.
4. Established industry and professional network
