POSITION TITLE: Staff Scientist

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will contribute significantly to directing the research being undertaken in the Lightner Lab. Initially, this position will be responsible for establishing standard operating procedures in the lab related to tissue procurement for a new biobank (including organization of primary tissue samples). Additionally, this position will oversee the development of novel assays involving human intestinal organoids, bone-marrow derived stem cells, co-cultures, and discovery/evaluation of novel targets for Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Finally, this position will be the point of coordination between our lab and numerous academic and industrial collaborators.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D. in Cell Biology or in an appropriate scientific discipline required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of post-doc experience that includes work with intestinal organoids and/or iPSCs.


PREFERRED SKILLSET:
Prior expertise with one or more of the following is preferred:

  • Biomedical research, including genetics, genomics, and/or drug discovery.
  • Isolation of intestinal stem cells from primary tissue sources.
  • Development of differentiation protocols for iPSCs.
  • Derivation and maintenance of intestinal organoid cultures.
  • Assay development.
  • Bioinformatics experience (at least organizing and handling large Omics-based datasets).
  • Confocal microscopy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in a wet lab environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $85,000 to $95,272 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
