This role involves teaching undergraduate and potential graduate courses in various formats, including classroom, laboratory, and online. Key responsibilities include curriculum development, laboratory management, student advisement, and college service. Candidates are expected to engage in scholarly activities, maintain professional development, and participate in service activities for the program, department, and college. Candidates should have a commitment to mentoring a diverse student body, including first-generation college students. Promoting critical thinking, problem solving, and civic engagement is essential. - Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of collegiate teaching experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Occupational Safety and Health, demonstrating hands-on expertise in applying occupational safety and health principles in real-world, non-academic environments. This experience should highlight effective risk management, compliance with safety regulations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in the construction industry. OR 8 a minimum years of collegiate teaching experience in Construction Safety.
- BCSP CSP or CIH Designation or the ability to receive such a designation upon 1 year of hire.
- Ability to provide evidence of Service and Scholarship work that aligns with SOHAS Department Guidelines.
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in construction safety, demonstrating hands-on expertise in applying construction management and occupational safety and health principles in real-world, non-academic environments. This experience should highlight effective risk management, compliance with safety regulations, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in the construction industry.
- A minimum of 1 year of teaching or training experience, which may include instruction at the high school, college, or workplace levels. This should include course development, delivery in traditional classroom settings, effective classroom or training environment management, student or trainee evaluation and assessment, and a commitment to continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
- Proficiency in core construction safety disciplines, including OSHA standards, OSH best practices, systems safety, construction plan interpretation, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the implementation of safety management systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, foster an inclusive learning or training environment, and contribute to the continuous improvement of safety within construction industry.
- Candidates must currently maintain or must receive the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation within 3 years of hire.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Hold board-certified designations or maintain professional engineer licensure.
- Ability to demonstrate their knowledge in HOP, Safety II, and SIFs, as well as Systems and Behavioral Sciences
