Farmingdale State College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Psychology (Tenure-Track). The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Neuroscience or a closely related field and will be able to teach courses in Biopsychology, Cognitive Psychology, Research Methods, and/or Statistics. The successful candidate will also serve as the program coordinator for an extension site of our Applied Psychology BS Program that is offered on the campus of Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY.
At Farmingdale State College, all faculty members are expected to fulfill three primary workload components: teaching, scholarship, and service. Successful candidates should exhibit a strong interest and high level of competence in teaching, with the expectation that they will deliver courses in hybrid, online, and traditional face-to-face formats. Additionally, candidates should have a well-defined research agenda that aligns with their academic specialization, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Both of these achievements are vital for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College. The service component of the workload involves student advisement and active participation in departmental, school, and college-wide committees. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about contributing to the overall educational and academic community at Farmingdale State College.
This position will be based at Nassau Community College, with expected travel to Farmingdale State College.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biopsychology, or Integrative Neuroscience by the time of appointment or a Ph.D. in other areas of psychology or neuroscience will also be considered.
- Ability to teach courses in biopsychology and/or cognitive psychology.
- Ability to teach courses in statistics and/or research methods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience teaching at the college level.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate research projects.
- Experience with advisement.
- A demonstrated record of scholarship and a research program suitable for undergraduate involvement.
Additional Information:
This is a 10-month UUP faculty position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Tuesday, October 15, 2024, and ending Monday, October 28, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
- CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Wednesday, November 13, 2024
- SALARY: $75,000 + $4,000 in downstate location pay = $79,000 Compensation.
- ANTICIPATED START DATE: Fall semester 2025
