Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK: Teaches courses in the Teacher Education Program and oversees all the field-based components of educator preparation, including student teacher/practicum placements, cooperating teacher experience educator training/coordination, and the assessment of teaching practice. This position reports to the Department Head of Education at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Teaches an academic course schedule within the Teacher Education program as assigned. Supervises student learning activities, academic progress, and maintains accurate records.
  • Coordinates student placements in educational settings by building and maintaining relationships with partner schools and matching candidates with appropriate Cooperating Teachers. Conducts regular site visits to ensure a positive experience for all stakeholders.
  • Recruits, trains, and supports Cooperating Teachers, fostering communication between them, students, and program staff, while providing resources for professional development.
  • Continuously evaluate and update field experiences to align with current educational standards and best practices.
  • Maintains accurate records of field placements, assessments, evaluations, and background checks. Prepares necessary reports for accreditation and compliance purposes.
  • Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development, modification, and evaluation of program curricula and instructional materials.
  • Provides guidance and support to students throughout their field experiences, addressing concerns and conducting site visits to monitor progress.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with partner schools and districts.
  • Maintains accessibility and availability to assist and advise students.
  • Coordinates and leads departmental activities, operations, and outreach initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in planning, developing, and implementing recruitment and retention activities, as assigned.
  • Stays informed on trends and best practices in educator preparation and field experiences through ongoing professional development. Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness and college operations.
  • Serves on and leads college or system committees, as assigned.
  • Complies with all college, system, state, and federal rules and regulations, observing academic policies, and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior at all times.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Education or closely related field.

Experience: Six (6) years of teaching experience in elementary, secondary or post-secondary education, two years of which shall have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration or six (6) years of business or industry experience directly related to Education, two years’ of which shall have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration.

License/Certification: Valid NH Driver’s License or access to statewide transportation. Teacher Certification in elementary, secondary, or special education.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in teaching in Educator Preparation, in coordinating field placements or practicum supervision. Demonstrated success in building partnerships with schools/districts. Experience in evaluating educational programs for alignment with standards.

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, the use of instructional materials and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs. Complete knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and equipment in subjects being taught. Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors. Ability to work with and secure the cooperation of others. Ability to supervise professional instructional staff and collaborate in development of programs, policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations. Ability to originate and implement new programs and to improve existing programs. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
