Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate who will take a leading technical role in an exciting project funded by DOE Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to develop carbon molecular sieve (CMS) hollow fiber membranes for alkane dehydrogenation membrane reactors. The position will be in Professor Chen Zhang’s research group in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Maryland.

- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Background in experimental membrane research.
- Experience in polymer membrane fabrication and membrane gas permeation measurements.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
Preferences:
- Strong publication record in membrane development.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in the following areas: fabrication and testing of CMS films or CMS hollow fiber membranes, spinning of polymer hollow fiber membranes, construction of hollow fiber membrane separators, polymer synthesis.
- Knowledge in reaction engineering to effectively communicate with collaborators from a heterogenous catalysis and reaction engineering group.
