The Division of Management, Marketing, & Entrepreneurship in the College of Business at Governors State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Human Resource Management beginning in August 2025.
The successful candidate will be academically qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Resource Management with a preference for candidates with teaching experience or expertise in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, and Organizational Behavior. Other classes may be assigned based on background and experience.
We seek candidates with exceptional teaching skills, a strong interest in teaching non-traditional and diverse student populations, and the ability or desire to teach high-quality remote or online courses. Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, an interest in curriculum development, and either evidence of or the potential for distinguished scholarship aligned with the mission of the college and AACSB standards for Scholarly Academic faculty. Additionally, candidates should show evidence of or potential for meaningful professional and university service.

Essential Responsibilities

Typical teaching load is 21 credit hours in an academic year.

Effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels (MSHRM, MBA) as well as providing service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.
- Research and scholarship that meets AACSB standards is expected
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Human Resource Management, Management, Labor Relations, or a related discipline earned by August 2025, A.B.D. candidates in the final stages of completion will be considered.
Demonstrated potential for teaching effectiveness.
Interest in developing and teaching online courses.
Demonstrated potential for research, consistent with the mission of the college.
Ability to write and publish in academic journals.
Applicant must meet AACSB standards for scholarship as “Scholarly Academic (SA).”
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Human Resource Management, Management, Labor Relations, or a related discipline.
Teaching experience or expertise in multiple areas of HR such as Performance Management, Compensation, Training and Development, International HRM, Labor Relations, Compensation, or HR Analytics.
Experience teaching online courses.
Professional experience.
Knowledge of AACSB accreditation requirements.
