Job Description

The University of Notre Dame University Operations, Events, and Safety division is currently hiring for the position of Manager within the Huddle. The University Operations, Events, and Safety division leads the University’s event management, hospitality, and customer service functions while supporting student life, academic endeavors, and research initiatives. As part of the event management role, the division is responsible for the planning and execution of a wide range of University events from Commencement to concerts and special events on football game weekends. The division is a major contributor of revenue to the University’s mission and employs the largest number of staff on campus with over 1,200 full-time, part-time, temporary, and on-call staff.

Why this position?
This is a front line supervisory position responsible for the production of food and customer service for University students, staff, faculty, and guests. Areas of responsibility could include dining halls, catering, vending, concessions, religious houses or retail operations. Insures staff adheres to the proper culinary, customer service and sanitary guidelines as set forth by the department. Assures foods are served properly in an attractive manner. Evaluates employee performance, makes recommendations concerning corrective action, and issues disciplinary notices when necessary. Schedules employees to meet needs of the operation. Plans menu, forecasts, orders and receives products. Involved in the implementation of events in the assigned unit and through catering. Participates in completing marketing plans, achieving budgetary expectations, and future planning and goal setting. Operational responsibility for two or more separate revenue centers during a shift. (one venue open 24 hours daily during school year requiring shifts during late night hours).

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-4 years experience
