Salary: $28,836.00 to $46,327.00 based on ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E5 06 and experience.
This full-time Academic Assistant position in adult education is an employee working 40 hours per week in the adult education program. The Academic Assistant will assist Adult Education Instructors in various duties in the adult education classroom involved in maintaining the program within the college’s service area. Under the supervision of adult education instructors, duties include but are not limited to assistance with TABE testing, one on one remediation, entering attendance in AAESAP, maintaining student records, and providing instructional support for the Adult Education Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Follow the directions of the instructor or program director and work as an effective member of the instructional team to ensure the success of all students.
2. Prepare instructional materials for use by the instructor.
3. Monitor and observe student behaviors and share observations with the instructor.
4. Assist instructor with providing individual support for students and checking for understanding of instructional materials.
5. Organize, use, and maintain supplies, materials, and equipment.
6. Assist with providing non-instructional support for students.
7. Understand community resources and discuss referrals with the instructor.
8. Assist instructor with implementing, recording, and monitoring student educational plans.
9. Assist instructor with administering, scoring, and evaluating diagnostic tests.
10. Assist instructor with preparing student folders and maintaining records of student progress.
11. Assist instructor with collecting data for reports.
12. Understand and use the AAESAP data system.
13. Knowledge of and proficiency in computers.
14. Participate in staff development and in-service meetings.
15. Perform other related duties as assigned.
