The responsibilities of the position include (1) teaching mathematics content and pedagogy courses for elementary, middle, and high school pre-service teachers, teaching doctoral level mathematics education courses, and teaching undergraduate mathematics courses for majors and non-majors; (2) advising undergraduate majors in mathematics education, and advising graduate students in mathematics education through the completion of their dissertation studies, (3) developing a successful research program that includes collaborative work with colleagues and graduate students and active pursuit of external funding to support research activities, and (4) providing service to the department, college, and profession through committee work and engagement with external partners.

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics offers programs in pure and applied mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The current mathematics education faculty have research interests in teaching methodologies and theories of learning in undergraduate mathematics, geometry, proof, algebra, as well as the area of mathematics teacher development. Department faculty have many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and research across UNH, with the Joan and James Leitzel Center for Mathematics, Science and Engineering Education, and with the K-12 community in both urban and rural settings. In addition, the university offers professional development opportunities and research collaborations for new faculty in STEM Education to build upon the University’s comprehensive vision to strengthen the K-16 pipeline in STEM.
