Duties
- Patrol installation to ensure safety/security of human lives and property.
- Arrest persons committing or suspected of committing crimes on the installation.
- Investigate circumstances where a criminal threat may exist.
- Promote traffic safety by issuing warnings and citations.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be a graduate from the Department of the Army Civilian Police Academy or successfully complete within 12 months of hire date.
- Must pass initial and semi-annual weapons qualifications.
- Must complete initial and annual CPR and First Aid requirements.
- Must successfully complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- Must pass preemployment and annual medical examinations. Must pass initial and annual physical ability/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter, IAW AR 190-56.
- Must qualify and remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program, IAW AR 190-56.
- Designated drug-testing position – must pass initial drug test and subject to random drug testing.
- Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential.
- Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends, as required.
- Occasional Travel TDY (Temporary Duty Travel) up to 10% of the time, may be required.
- May be subject to civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Federal law requires removal of federal law enforcement officers convicted of felonies. The Omnibus Federal Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 20001 (Public Law 106-554).
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Enforcing laws, regulations, policies, standards or procedures; 2) Ensuring the protection of health, safety, privacy or best interest of the public, staff or others who may be at risk; 3) Completing checklists and contingency actions in responding to incidents, emergencies, or hostile/potentially hostile actions; and 4) Establishing incident command at the onset of a significant incident affecting public safety. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
