Family Bridges, Inc. is a multi-service health and human services non-profit organization that has been serving the Asian American Pacific Islander community in East Bay for over 50 years. We serve approximately 10,000 clients annually, principally non-English monolingual and LEP-speaking moderate-to-low-income East Bay residents. Our programs include Community-Based Adult Services Centers, Senior Centers, a Friendly Visitors program, a Social Services program, a Child Care Center, an emergency shelter for people experiencing homelessness, and a public safety mediator
program.

Family Bridges, www.familybridges.org, empowers the most vulnerable—the young, the elderly, immigrants, the houseless, and those formerly incarcerated—to lead self-sufficient, independent lives. Our services are open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. Our historical core competency has been serving Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islanders (AANHPI). Most Family Bridges staff members and volunteers have multilingual language capacity in Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Hmong, or Laotian.
 
Family Bridges is a well-known and respected organization with 160 staff and over $11 million budget. The current CEO is retiring after almost 30 years of expanding and deepening the organization's services and impact. Family Bridges is looking for a dynamic and seasoned leader who can help usher the organization through its next phase of evolution, continuing the momentum of growth and innovation. Reporting to a diverse and seasoned board of directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will oversee the organization's strategic direction, development, and growth. Strong business acumen and aptitude for innovation will be essential in partnering with the board to develop and drive strategies that develop growth, serve community needs, and diversify the organization’s revenue stream.

The CEO will manage an experienced and tenured senior leadership team. The CEO will be someone who has unquestioned integrity, a long-term perspective, a strong sense of accountability, practical ability to get things done, wisdom and good judgment, and a fair and thoughtful approach to management, combined with the flexibility and courage to shift direction and experiment with new initiatives; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a high energy level and sense of humor. Our ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of our community and the East Bay Area and will adhere to our core competencies and cultural sensitivity, focusing on what Family Bridges does well.

 
CEO RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, developing, driving, and leading organizational strategies and activities to achieve community impact and developing resources to expand programs. In addition, the CEO is responsible for overall strategic and organizational management, collaboration, and staff retention. Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • As the organization's leader, the CEO establishes a vision for community impact that is achieved through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing leaders, staff, and volunteers.
  • The CEO is the Chief Mobilizer, leveraging the power of relationships and networks to improve conditions in the community across the private, public, and corporate sectors, and has a solid track record of having led successful grassroots campaigns and initiatives.
  • The CEO possesses a high level of broad business and management skills and is effective at generating resources and financial support for the organization.
  • The CEO is dedicated to shared and measurable goals for the common good–creating, resourcing, scaling, and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact.
  • The CEO stewards the organization’s brand and understands its role in growing and protecting Family Bridges, Inc.'s reputation.
  • The CEO is a skilled communicator who can influence policy negotiations, platforms, and discussions verbally and in writing.
  • The CEO is responsible for building trust in Family Bridges, Inc. and its relevance in the community.
  • The CEO values the network and strives to leverage Family Bridge’s breadth of community presence, relationships, and strategy.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eight-plus years of senior strategic leadership experience and proven management experience in an organization of similar size and mission are required.
  • Significant experience in the nonprofit sector, engaging with volunteers and diverse boards.
  • Experience in multiple sectors, including nonprofit, public, and corporate environments.
  • Expertise in developing partnerships, building teams, and managing conflicts.
  • Established leadership within the Asian American Pacific Islander community, including proven experience serving monolingual/Asian immigrants, seniors, children, and individuals with complex needs.
  • Track record of promoting diversity and community collaboration.
  • Preferred experience in community and public health and managed care, including understanding Medicaid/MediCal policies and managed care advocacy.
  • Proven success in revenue building and increasing philanthropic support.
  • Experience in developing and implementing significant programs with measurable results.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and presentations.
  • Ability to advocate for clients, staff, and the organization.
  • Ability to earn confidence and respect from stakeholders.
  • High emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin is a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree required. Preferred training, experience, or advanced degree in business, public administration, or nonprofit management degree.
  • Seven years in a senior leadership role may substitute for an advanced degree.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Family Bridges offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The FTE salary range is
150-175K, depending on experience. This position is onsite with an understanding of flexibility when
needed.
