Job Description: Non-Profit Development Consultant

Position Overview

A Non-Profit Development Consultant is responsible for providing strategic advice and support to non-profit organizations to enhance their fundraising and development efforts. This role involves analyzing the organization's current fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for growth, and implementing effective development plans to ensure the organization's financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Assess the current development strategies and fundraising activities of the non-profit organization.
  • Develop comprehensive fundraising plans aligned with the organization's mission, goals, and capacity.
  • Identify potential funding sources, including individual donors, foundations, corporations, and government grants.
  • Fundraising Campaigns:
  • Design and implement effective fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and special events.
  • Develop compelling fundraising messages and materials to engage donors and supporters.
  • Monitor and evaluate the success of fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Donor Relations:
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors.
  • Provide guidance on donor engagement and stewardship practices.
  • Develop strategies to expand the organization's donor base and increase donor retention rates.
  • Grant Writing and Management:
  • Research and identify grant opportunities relevant to the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
  • Assist in managing grant-funded projects, including reporting and communication with funders.
  • Capacity Building:
  • Train and mentor staff and volunteers in fundraising best practices and techniques.
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to enhance the organization’s internal fundraising capacity.
  • Facilitate workshops and seminars on development topics for board members and other stakeholders.
  • Market Analysis and Research:
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the non-profit sector.
  • Analyze donor data and fundraising performance metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging fundraising tools and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit development, fundraising, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising and donor engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,115.10 - $65,170.87 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • Fundraising: 10 years (Preferred)
  • Microsoft Office: 10 years (Preferred)
