Do you enjoy working with young people, are you curious, and do you want to pass on your knowledge?  As a Senior Lecturer, you play a crucial role in educating students. In addition to providing a solid academic education, we also place a special emphasis on the personal development of students. We support students in developing curiosity and critical thinking, thereby creating a solid foundation for the professional challenges of the next generation.

The position to be filled is located at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences. With approximately 1.400 students - including a high proportion of international students - and a broad and excellent research profile the department is the only one of its kind at Austrian universities.

Your workplace:

As a Senior Lecturer, you will mainly be involved in teaching in the field of methods of social and cultural anthropology. In addition, you will also teach in various other subject areas within the Bachelor's program and in our two Master's programs as needed. The employment extent of 28.4 hours per week includes a teaching load of an average of 10 semester hours of scientific teaching.

Your future tasks:

  • You will independently give courses at Bachelor's and Master's level
  • You make an active contribution to the (further) development of course and examination formats
  • We expect from you the ongoing reception of the current state of science as well as the didactic further training during the lecture-free time.
  • You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.

  • Completed doctorate in the field of Social and Cultural Anthropology
  • Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and for university teaching
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to coordinate teaching content with colleagues according to the requirements of the study program
  • Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
