Human Resources Generalist
Partners in Prevention Education (PiPE) has an immediate career opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to support the organization. This position will play a critical role in overseeing all HR functions and ensuring the well-being of our staff. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director to manage internal affairs, hiring processes, and address complex interpersonal and workplace issues. The ideal candidate will have exceptional boundary skills and a proven track record in navigating complex interpersonal issues and resolving nuanced workplace situations. This position is the sole HR position within the organization and will support a wide range of organizational needs. The Human Resources Generalist will help the organizational hiring and personnel development processes run smoothly, and help the organization sustain work that involves vicarious trauma, while prioritizing equity, inclusion, and access.

DETAILS
Hours per Week: 32 Hours
Pay Scale: $34-40 per hour, depending on experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Provide guidance and support to the Executive Director and Deputy Director on HR-related matters.
- Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure staff are informed and trained on organizational policies and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and selection.
- Ensure diverse hiring pools that include BIPOC and queer/trans representation.
- Facilitate equitable hiring practices.
- Develop and execute effective onboarding programs to ensure new hires are well-integrated into the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing support and mediation as needed.
- Foster a positive work environment by addressing and resolving conflicts, grievances, and workplace issues promptly.
- Employ a lens of intersectionality and equity throughout all work.
- Provide resources for employees dealing with trauma, vicarious trauma, and stress, including supporting staff in accessing the employee assistance program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Performance Management:
- Implement and manage performance appraisal systems to evaluate employee performance.
- Provide coaching and support to managers and employees (in conjunction with supervisors, when appropriate) on performance-related issues.
- Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.

Other:
- Model and maintain open communication with PiPE leadership, participants, and other stakeholders.
- Along with other staff, participate in the maintenance and cleanliness of PiPE, and monitor the space to ensure cleanliness and compliance with PiPE’s expectations, both inside and outside.
- Attend the amount of required continuing education annually as outlined in PiPE’s funding contracts.
- Attend whole-agency trainings and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- At least 2 years of experience in HR management, preferably in a nonprofit or trauma-informed setting.
- Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proven experience in resolving complex interpersonal and workplace issues.
- Strong boundary-setting skills and emotional resilience.
- Commitment to the mission and values of PiPE. A strong desire to advocate on behalf of and in partnership with marginalized community groups in support of equality, non-violence, and social justice.
- Experience working with marginalized communities, including people of color, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, and unhoused people.
- A strong understanding of anti-oppression theory and practices, and experience working with this model.
- The ability to pass an extensive background check with no history of conviction or perpetration of child abuse or physical harm to another person.
- Understanding and empathy for the experiences and marginalization of unhoused people.
- Ability to work independently, as well as comfort taking direction from supervisors.
- Ability to manage stressful situations.
- The ability to communicate with a variety of people in numerous emotional and professional contexts.
Desired
- Valid Washington state driver’s license.
- Previous experience employed in the lead HR position for an organization.
- Lived experience with survivorship, houselessness, and/or marginalized identities.
- Knowledge of sexual exploitation, sexual violence, domestic violence and their intersections with houselessness and marginalization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- This job may require handling products with artificial scents, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds of supplies, and walking regularly, including on uneven terrain.

Pay: $56,576.00 - $67,000.00 per year
