Salary Range: $56,841.98 (Recruit) / $63,929.00 (Sworn Officer), DOE

Our new hires start out as Police Recruits. After approximately eight months of initial training and upon the successful completion of the Field Training program, officers are moved to Police Officer status. After the initial probationary period, Police Officers can apply for special assignments, including:
- Detective
- School Resource Officer
- Support Services Officer
- Drug Task Force Office
- Training Officer
A majority of Laramie Police Officers work in the Patrol Unit of the Operations Division. In addition to their Patrol Assignments, opportunities exist for Officers to become instructors in a variety of specialized fields, including:
- Firearms
- Custody and Control
- Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO)
- Radar/Laser
- TASER/ Less Lethal
- DUI Enforcement
- Tactical Communications
- Active Shooter
- Criminal Investigations
- Drug Recognition Expert
- Special Response Team
- Crisis Negotiations Team
- Bomb Squad

Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age at time of testing date.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.
Must Have NO:
- Felony convictions.
- Domestic violence convictions.
- Three (3) or more driving violations within the last 36 months.
- Have not smoked marijuana or used THC products in the last one year.
