Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist will support the Development Team by writing and editing appeals and other materials and assisting with the production of presentations and videos.
Responsibilities:
Work with the Development Team to support Catholic Charities community outreach and fund development.
- Work with the Director of Development to develop strategies for fund-raising campaigns
- Write and edit copy for appeals, letters, newsletters, and other materials to support the efforts of Development and Communications
- Gather stories, interview clients, and work with a professional videographer to produce videos for internal use and for the Development Team's outreach efforts and fund-raising events
- Provide writing coaching to members of the Development Team as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
This position normally requires the physical demands of sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.
Non-Physical Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant area (i.e., Communications, English, Journalism, etc.) Required
Experience
- Five years of experience working in communications and public relations required.
Special Skills
- Strong writing and communications skills
- Ability to work with a as a team member in the spirit of collaboration
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Availability for flexible scheduling
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Power Point
Licensure, Registration, or Certification
- Valid Washington State driver’s license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
Employment is conditional upon:
- Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
