Research Associate I - Recombinant Expression & Purification

Job Summary
The main job role of this position is recombinant protein expression from culture platforms such as E. Coli and performing protein purification using various preparative chromatography, formulating the recombinant proteins according to existing or newly developed procedures. Successful candidate as a protein purification associate plays an integral role in the success of recombinant protein development and manufacturing. He/she will be actively supporting scientists or team members in managing, and troubleshooting any processes including cross-functional product development teams within the organization.
Essential Functions

- Perform E. Coli culture and protein expression
- Perform buffer and medium preparation for E. Coli culture
- Perform protein purification methods on gravity or AKTA HPLC/ FPLC using affinity, ion exchange, hydrophobic, reverse-phase, and size exclusion chromatography.
- Perform protein modification procedures such as His tag removal, biotinylation, and other activities for protein characterization such as UV spectrophotometry absorbance, quantification, and purity measurement.
- Follow protocols and document protein purification production batch records to comply with ISO 13485.
- Support optimizing processing in new product protein refolding/ purification for successful and smooth technical transfer
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with project team members from multiple disciplines.
- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other related area.
- 6+ months of biotechnology industry experience in protein or antibody purification by various chromatography methods
Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience
- B.S. with 1+ year experience in the Biotechnology industry and quality system knowledge including ISO 13485.
- Experience in protein product production including protein expression and purification protein
- Experience in protein or antibody purification and modification.
- Experience in process optimization for production scale-up
The base salary range for this full-time position is $26.44 - 31.25/hr. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
