Biochemist II - Recombinant Purification

Job Summary
The candidate will be responsible for purifying recombinant proteins using various preparative chromatography methods and separation mechanisms such as size exclusion, ion-exchange, and formulate the recombinant proteins according to standard operating procedures. His/her role also includes supporting key quality elements such as leading technical support, document control, validation, training, nonconformance, and CAPA systems. He/she will also be cross-trained with the bacteria upstream processing activities for raw material preparation as needed.
The position plays an integral part in the success of the recombinant protein manufacturing, and will be actively supporting team members in managing. A Biochemist will be troubleshooting any processes in existing or scale-up design through efforts to collaborate with other cross-functional such as product development teams within the organization.
Essential Functions

- Conduct daily purification planning and report weekly assignment progress
- Perform purification on routine basis, close production orders, and bulk transfer on time including customer orders.
- Take initiative and actively communicate with product development team for any troubleshooting and complicated problems in recombinant protein production.
- Proactively identify improving items in manufacturing, format stability, lot size scale-up, equipment, and material qualification and propose solutions.
- Support team to take actions to improve current manufacturing procedures to increase efficiency and consistency with necessary actions to ensure full QA compliance in traceability and equivalency.
- Participate in the development of validation plans and reports for production processes
- Participate in drafting of quality system documents (SOP, CCR, DCR, DR, NCR, or CAR) that are essential to be in compliance with ISO13485:2016
- Continuously searches process improvements that align with our iACT strategy.

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or other related area.
- 2 years of experience in the Biotechnology industry with demonstrated quality system knowledge, including ISO 13485.
- 2 years of experience in antibody or protein purification in an industry setting
Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience
- Experience with a leadership role in a manufacturing setting.
- Extensive experience in both protein and antibody purification.
- Experience in purification and formulation of recombinant protein or antibody.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $65,000 - 67,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
