Job Summary

Research Associates at BioLegend play a vital and integral role in the company's success in developing legendary research products for our customers around the world. As a Research Associate, you will report to a Scientist or Manager, where you will be able to conduct extensive analysis on new or existing products and consistently report key findings on product research initiatives.

This position is to join our chemistry team to support manufacturing functions including chem probe synthesis, and assist in developing fluorescent dyes and other chemicals through collaboration with biology groups.

.Essential Functions

  • Synthesizing small fluorescent molecules or intermediate small molecules following SOPs and literature procedures:
  • Adherence to standard operating procedures ensures consistency, safety, and reproducibility in the laboratory
  • Following literature procedures involves using established methods from scientific literature for synthesizing final target or intermediate small molecules
  • Experienced in chromatography, such as column chromatography or flash chromatography, for separating and purifying compounds based on their chemical properties
  • Compliance with lab safety standards and assist with our continuous improvement of lab working environment
  • Maintain on-time delivery for manufacturing work requests
  • Characterizations of synthesized compounds and data analysis for optimizing the synthesis routes
  • Clear and complete documentation of the laboratory experiments
  • Be responsible for laboratory and equipment maintenance, lab safety, and lab management
  • Maintain SOPs for chem production manufacturing
  • Writing technical reports and giving presentations that summarize their results
  • Training team colleagues for production and equipment
  • Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.
  • 0-1 year of lab experience in area of organic or inorganic synthesis
  • 0-1 year of hands-on experience with synthesis lab equipment and characterization methods (Chromatography Column, Rotovap, HPLC, NMR, GPC, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications - Education and Experience

  • 2 years of experience with organic synthesis skills, problem-solving, independently or/and in a team environment
  • 2 years of experience conducting small molecule synthesis and purification through chromatography methods
  • Experience with ChemDraw, SciFinder, or other related chemistry-related software
  • Strong communication skills

The base salary range for this full-time position is$26.44-$29.50/ hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Lab

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
