Senior Project Manager, Commissioning SPT
Job Description
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, COMMISSIONING, Facilities (DoF)-Campus Construction-Systems Performance and Turnover (SPT), to work with faculty, staff, and colleagues to develop alignment along commissioning and turnover requirements for DoF projects. Will hire and manage consultants; establish project scopes and budgets; coordinate the planning and design review of work provided by outside consultants; oversee the integration of commissioning concepts; oversee project turnover to verify compliance; identify, develop, participate in, and manage commissioning-related initiatives/projects to promote and advance the persistent performance of MIT’s built environment; create and streamline internal processes; and collaborate with various stakeholders and project teams.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e., mechanical, electrical, etc.) or related discipline; seven years’ commissioning and turnover process experience; ability to evaluate, select, and adapt/modify standard project management approaches; knowledge of building systems operation, performance, optimization, and maintenance; knowledge of total building commissioning, retro-commissioning, and continuous commissioning processes; knowledge of automation and controls, HVAC, gas distribution, commercial refrigeration, and fire alarm/life safety systems and lighting controls; field experience operating and troubleshooting building and building automation systems; knowledge of designing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for commercial/institutional/light industrial facilities; experience with energy-efficient equipment design and control strategy optimization; knowledge of building and energy codes and energy standards; excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; self-motivation and initiative; and a systematic approach to work. Must be able to review commissioning specifications and pre-functional and functional test procedures; prepare budgets, schedules, and logistical graphic descriptions; persuade, influence, negotiate, and form alliances with a variety of peers/clients; independently resolve complex issues; and give presentations and prepare written technical reports.
